ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADLs)
Everyone is encouraged to do as much for themselves as they can. Examples are: dressing, personal hygiene, eating, preparing food, household chores, leisure activities, etc. However everyone gets the assistance they need or want.
PROGRAMS
Programs are individualized for each person based on their specific desires, needs, and abilities. The program can include anything relating to interests in ADLs, jobs, social relationships, recreation (in their home and in the community, etc.).
GROUPS
Groups are available to individuals as needed. The subject matter is defined by peoples' desires and needs. Typical topics are "How to Build and Maintain Relationships" and "Problem Solving Skills".
FAMILY INVOLVEMENT
Family involvement is strongly encouraged on an ongoing basis.
COMMUNITY INTEGRATION
Most people like to get out of the house and enjoy community life. Staff are strongly encouraged to provide individuals with frequent opportunities for community activities especially on weekends. This can also lead to potential friendships and/or job ideas.
MEDICAL/TRANSPORTATION
PUI takes everyone on medical appointments unless family members request other arrangements.
CASE MANAGEMENT
Our case managers are liaisons with families, other providers and Service Coordinators. They keep track of individuals' health, financial needs, social/recreation/leisure activities, etc. and act as advocates on their behalf. They are required to visit individuals in their homes on a regular basis to insure that their needs are being met.
HOUSING
Our homes are owned or leased in Baltimore County. They are primarily located in Owings Mills, Reisterstown and Randallstown. We serve three individuals per home. People either have their own bedroom or share with one other person. We offer one or more staff supervision per home depending on individual need.
BEHAVIORAL SUPPORTS
All behavioral and psychiatric services are provided by licensed professionals, as needed. Individuals who display challenging behaviors are supported by trained staff.
